Vipoo Srivilasa

Vipoo Srivilasa, a well known Melbourne base, Thai born (1969) Australian artist, who resides and works between Australia and Thailand, gained his Master of Fine Art and Design (ceramic), University of Tasmania, Hobart. He has traveled arround the world doing countless exhibitions both solo and group, won numorous awards and grants, residencies program, presenter, guest lecturer, and his artworks were collected internationaly through Australia, USA, Canada. Countless bibliography and reviews are become his daily. His works mostly in ceramics, exploring similarities between the cultures of his native home, Thailand and his adoptive home, Australia. In his works, he loves to apply detailed decorative images to the surfaces of ceramic forms, and covered with bright colorful glaze, dominantly blue and white. His work which is a playful blend of historical Figurative and Decorative art practices with a health dose of Contemporary Culture, requires an intimacy in which the key elements of the drama are often found in unusual places within the forms themselves.
