Wiyoga Muhardanto

Wiyoga Muhardanto graduated from the Faculty of Fine Art and Design ITB majoring sculpture in 2007. He has participated in many collaborative exhibitions. In 2008, he had his solo exhibition called Window Display at Selasar Sunaryo Art Space. This exhibition questions several issues related to the consumerism culture of city people. Wiyoga made his artwork as a criticism in an eclectic parody. He deconstructed various images of products that are often consumed by city people. In making his artworks, Wiyoga never wants to get himself tied to one particular medium. His choice of media is based on his needs in articulating the ideas he has.
Although Wiyoga is not a ceramics artist who is usually associated with working on one medium only, but in this exhibition he specially works on the medium of ceramic, something that is entirely new to him. Thus, his artwork can still be categorized as ceramics artwork in a broader context.
It began from his intimacy and sensitivity with the world of objects, either visual or functional constructions, including the associations attached to the objects. Wiyoga is interested in ceramic objects and things that can be found in day to day life; one of them is a set of table ware. He presents forms of foods being served on a set of ceramic table ware, but the functional form of the table ware as a serving dish is eliminated. So, what is left is the exterior of the food and drink made of ceramic. Wiyoga explored the perceptions of forms and functions of the day to day objects. He deconstructs whatever exists in our routines related to our responds to an object by disturbing it.
